China's Ministry of Natural Resources has initiated a comprehensive risk and hazard inspection campaign across the Gyirong mudslide-affected region, with preliminary assessments identifying eight high-risk geological danger zones, according to reports from CCTV News on the 30th.
The ministry is currently deploying specialized technical teams to conduct emergency surveying and risk investigations across the affected areas, with particular focus on ice avalanche source zones, barrier lakes, drainage channel corridors, and surrounding watersheds. This systematic approach aims to establish a complete picture of the disaster's impact footprint, while enhanced monitoring efforts are being directed toward critical infrastructure including emergency rescue access routes, neighboring villages, and temporary resettlement sites.
Combining remote sensing interpretation with on-site field investigations, forward and rear command experts have identified more than 60 geological hazard potential points throughout the disaster impact area, with eight initially classified as high-risk locations. The ministry has recommended utilizing UAV aerial surveys supplemented by manual patrols for real-time monitoring during search and rescue operations.
Authorities have further emphasized the need to strengthen risk monitoring in mudslide source areas and maintain continuous risk assessment and early warning protocols for potential collapse and landslide threats triggered by channel erosion along the mudslide's flow path.
