New Times Corp (00166) projects HK$800.00 million FY2025 loss after Argentine asset disposal and peso depreciation

Hong Kong, 17 Mar 2026—New Times Corporation Limited (“New Times Corp”, 00166.HK) issued a profit warning, indicating an expected loss after tax of approximately HK$800.00 million for the financial year ended 31 Dec 2025 (FY2025), compared with a HK$87.40 million loss a year earlier.

The projected deterioration is attributed to two principal factors:

1. Loss on disposal of the Group’s Argentine oil and gas assets (High Luck Group), completed in Dec 2025. 2. Absence of the HK$111.30 million fair-value gain recorded on the Group’s Canadian investment property in FY2024.

Management noted that roughly HK$670.00 million of the FY2025 loss relates to a non-recurring, non-cash reclassification of accumulated exchange losses following the disposal. The adjustment reflects an estimated 99% depreciation of the Argentine peso—from ARS0.8 to HK$1 in 2007 to ARS186.5 to HK$1 in Dec 2025—and does not affect total equity or continuing operations.

The FY2025 figures are based on unaudited management accounts and are subject to review. The audited annual results are scheduled for release in late Mar 2026. Shareholders and potential investors are advised to exercise caution when dealing in the Company’s shares.
