Wang Jianmin, a provincial people's congress representative and the Chief Port and Shipping Operations Officer of the Yangpu Economic Development Zone Management Committee, stated that the infrastructure and logistics support for the port and shipping industry in Yangpu have been progressively enhanced. Notably, the completion last year of a 200,000-ton-class container terminal capable of handling 20,000 TEUs marks a significant milestone in the development of Yangpu Port's comprehensive, multi-functional terminal facilities. Currently, the world's largest container ships and oil tankers can all load and unload cargo at Yangpu Port. By benchmarking against top international standards, the aim is to create a convenient customs clearance environment and a high-quality business climate for the port and shipping industry. This will give companies a sense of achievement and, more importantly, a sense of belonging, thereby attracting vessels to register in Yangpu and establishing it as the nation's highest-quality and most attractive ship registry location.
Over the past five years, Yangpu's port and shipping industry has experienced rapid development, and its logistics channels have been effectively improved. While the port and shipping sector has grown on its own, it has also spurred the development of substantial industrial projects in Yangpu, including petrochemicals, advanced manufacturing, health foods, offshore wind power, and biomedicine. This growth has contributed to Yangpu's GDP doubling in recent years and helped push the combined GDP of Danzhou and Yangpu beyond the 100-billion-yuan mark. Looking ahead, Yangpu will continue to enhance quality and efficiency, scaling up the capacity of shipping-related factors to attract various types of vessels, including those registered under the "China Yangpu Port" flag. Concurrently, the management philosophy of the port will be further elevated, shifting from mere "terminal operations" to the construction of a comprehensive "port ecosystem," with the goal of transforming Yangpu Port into a greener, smarter, and more environmentally friendly port.
