5. Opening Summary

The Hang Seng Index opened firmly in positive territory, reclaiming the 24,000 threshold for the first time in weeks and adding 1.08% as investors embraced improved risk sentiment. The HSCEI and the Hang Seng Tech Index also pushed higher, up 1.19% and 1.59% respectively, signalling a broad-based advance across blue chips and growth counters.

Large-cap technology names set the tone: JD.com surged over 3%, while Baidu, Kuaishou and NetEase all climbed more than 2.5%. Tencent and Alibaba added support, and the Tech Index held above 4,000—reinforcing the sector’s leadership in the morning trade.

Among individual movers, AI player MINIMAX and chip designer Z.AI were notable gainers, while biotech names such as BIOCYTOGEN and GENSCRIPT featured prominently on the leader board. On the downside, Jiangsu Express and Baige Digital led early decliners, with CATL easing after recent strength.

Early price action shows investors rotating back into internet, semiconductor and travel-related shares, as evidenced by HWORLD’s pop above 5%. Transport and infrastructure counters like CRRC and Jiangsu Express lagged, suggesting some profit-taking in value plays. No major IPOs debuted this morning, leaving focus squarely on tech strength and the Hang Seng’s newly reclaimed 24,000 level.
