Standard Chartered PLC (STANCHART) disclosed that it repurchased 386,441 ordinary shares on 8 October 2026 across the London Stock Exchange, CBOE BXE and CBOE CXE. The buybacks were executed at prices ranging between GBP 20.90 and GBP 21.24 per share, for a total consideration of GBP 8.15 million. The shares represent approximately 0.0178% of the bank’s 2.17 billion issued shares (excluding treasury shares) outstanding before the transaction. All repurchased shares are intended for cancellation.
Including purchases carried out on 5–7 October (an additional 1.12 million shares awaiting cancellation), the total number of shares pending cancellation stands at about 1.50 million. Despite these transactions, issued share capital remained unchanged at 2.17 billion shares as of the close on 8 October, since cancellations had not yet been processed.
The 8 October repurchase forms part of the mandate approved by shareholders on 7 May 2026, which authorises the bank to buy back up to 221.63 million shares before the 2027 annual general meeting. Since that authorisation, STANCHART has acquired 41.22 million shares, equivalent to roughly 1.86% of its share count at the time of the resolution.
Management affirmed that all share repurchases have been duly authorised, funded, and executed in compliance with Hong Kong Stock Exchange listing rules and the regulations governing the London Stock Exchange and CBOE trading platforms.
