美国总统特朗普9月6日在社交媒体X上发文称，在已故国会议员约翰·丁格尔（John Dingell）去世时，他给予了对方“皇家送别”（Royal Sendoff），并称待遇已达到最高标准（MAXED OUT）。特朗普表示，丁格尔的遗孀、现任众议员黛比·丁格尔（Debbie Dingell）当时曾哭着打电话向他表示感谢，但此后却一直对他发表负面言论。
特朗普在帖文中写道：“Upon his death, I gave Congressman John Dingell, the Royal Sendoff, MAXED OUT! His wife, Debbie Dingbat, called me and thanked me profusely, while crying uncontrollably.”（在他去世时，我给了国会议员约翰·丁格尔最高规格的送别！他的妻子黛比·丁格尔哭着打电话给我，不住地道谢。）特朗普随后称，每次看到这位“三流失败者”（Third Rate Loser）抨击自己时，他都感到惊讶，因为他本人是个忠诚的人，不会这样做。但他表示“这没关系——这就是政治”，不过他强调“政治不应该这样”。
截至目前，黛比·丁格尔方面尚未对特朗普的言论作出公开回应。
