Fule Town in Luoping County has been focusing on rural industrial revitalization by leveraging its local agricultural resources. The town is advancing a dual-pillar approach that strengthens traditional farming while fostering new specialty industries, all aimed at boosting rural development and household incomes.

Through standardized upgrades, refined management, full supply chain integration, and differentiated planning, the town is shifting away from fragmented and low-efficiency farming. It is now transitioning toward a more organized, standardized, and intensive agricultural model, injecting fresh momentum into its rural revitalization efforts.

Fortifying Foundations in Core Traditional Sectors

Corn, flue-cured tobacco, and rapeseed stand as the town's dominant conventional crops, serving as key pillars for agricultural stability and income security. To counter issues like scattered plots, uneven crop management, and low yields, Fule Town is investing in high-standard farmland development to upgrade infrastructure and solidify its production base.

In parallel, agricultural technicians are being deployed to fields offering hands-on guidance to help secure yields and reduce costs. Hewai Village, capitalizing on its natural strengths, has scaled up taro farming using a unified management model. The village now grows over 3,000 mu of taro, engaging more than 500 households and generating total output surpassing 10 million yuan. With average earnings of over 3,000 yuan per mu, the produce sells well across the province, establishing itself as a key source of winter and spring income.

In the Aihong trough area, the Hongyan, Aihong, and Banpo village committees are focusing on premium rice cultivation. Led by the Hongyan village party branch, a rice processing plant has been established to streamline the entire chain from planting and processing to sales. High-quality rice seeds are distributed free of charge, and paddy is bought at above-market rates. This initiative has attracted over 200 migrant workers back to rice farming, fostered a local premium rice brand, generated an additional 100,000 yuan annually for the village collective, and delivered benefits in food security, farmer income, and community strength.

Shahe Village has a long-standing history with yam cultivation, spanning nearly a century. Covering over 1,000 mu, the crop yields a total value exceeding 6 million yuan and supports more than 300 households. The yams, known for their high sugar content and juiciness, enjoy strong market demand and remain a reliable source of prosperity. "Our village's yam farming goes back about a hundred years. We're in a river valley with unique climate and soil that give our yams high sugar, plenty of moisture, and great taste. With guidance from village leaders, buyers come directly to the fields or our homes to purchase them," said Yao Qingsong, Party Secretary of Shahe Village.

Nurturing New Specialty Industries for Diversified Growth

Building on its traditional base, Fule Town is adopting a village-specific strategy to avoid monoculture. It is cultivating niche cash crops and eco-livestock operations to create a diversified income structure. Bimi Village has pioneered a multi-income approach, moving beyond sole tobacco farming to include ecological beef cattle, water bamboo, ginseng fruit, and bamboo fungus cultivation, driving a transformative upgrade of its weaker economy.

"This year I've planted over 50 mu, up from 30-plus mu last year. The results have been quite good. The soil and climate here in Fule suit ginseng fruit perfectly, and the sugar levels meet the required standards," said Liu Wenyao, a major ginseng fruit grower.

Taoyuan Village is partnering with a local agricultural tech firm to grow industrial chili peppers. The village party branch oversees the entire support chain—seedling supply, training, management, and purchasing—while experts provide specialized guidance to protect farmer profits. This venture creates seasonal jobs for over 400 local residents. "To boost industrial growth and raise incomes, and after successful trials in past years, we've now scaled up industrial chili cultivation. Going forward, we'll enhance service support, technical guidance, and logistics to ensure farmers have secure sales channels and strong backing," stated Bao Mingjun, the village party secretary.

Creating an Integrated Agri-Tourism Model

To extend the agricultural value chain and add value, Fule Town is weaving rural tourism together with farming. It is developing new business models that combine picking, sightseeing, and hands-on activities. Tianshui Community has rolled out a dual-season plan featuring spring cherry blossoms and summer blueberries, operating a unique agri-tourism approach that draws over 200 locals for seasonal work and sets a precedent for the town.

Meanwhile, the red-fleshed kiwifruit orchard in Fule Community follows an eco-friendly circular farming model, complete with on-site picking experiences to enrich the value chain. The orchard currently yields 1,200 kilograms per mu, with total output valued at over 400,000 yuan.

Today, Fule Town has established a solid framework with traditional industries as its anchor, specialty sectors adding vitality, and integrated business models boosting efficiency. This diversified growth is expanding agricultural opportunities, broadening income channels, and attracting young workers to stay and thrive locally, fueling the internal drive for rural revitalization.
