Community Garden Project Brings Fresh Aromas of Fruits and Vegetables

Green vegetable seedlings are neatly arranged in rows, plump tomatoes peek out with their bright red "faces" among the green leaves, and cucumbers topped with small yellow flowers climb bamboo frames on their vines. On August 17th, in a green space within the Guosheng Community of Fuxin Mongolian Autonomous County's urban district in Fuxin City, several residents wearing straw hats were bent over watering their vegetable plots. The "shared community garden" is bursting with vibrant greenery.

Who could have imagined that just over three months ago, this area was an abandoned wasteland overgrown with weeds and scattered with garbage? Faced with this "troublesome land" that residents would walk around to avoid, Guosheng Community listed it as a "livelihood project" to serve the people and was determined to "transform waste into treasure."

Party members took the lead in forming a "clearance task force." They moved rocks, pulled weeds, and prepared the soil, using their sweat to clear away the desolation. After the wasteland was leveled, clearly divided "party responsibility plots" were established with identification signs. Various party branches voluntarily took responsibility for sections, and party members planted seasonal vegetables.

Every morning or evening, their busy figures can be seen in the responsibility plots, carefully removing weeds, cautiously setting up frames for seedlings, and quietly sharing planting experiences with each other.

The fresh vegetables that ripen are given to elderly residents living alone, mobility-impaired residents, and families in need. The heavy "vegetable baskets" are filled with the community's care and concern.

The garden has also become a "new stage" for neighborhood interaction. Residents come together by appointment, watering the vegetable plots with ladles and buckets, sharing fertilizer brought from their own homes, and exchanging vegetable growing tips. The casual conversations in the fields have brought neighbors closer together.

What was once a "marginal corner" has now become a "happy garden" that wafts with vegetable aromas and resonates with laughter, embodying the warmth and harmony of the community family.
