Following the successful full-load test of the fuel gas generator in July 2025, Harbin Electric Group has recently completed the full-load test of the domestically developed natural gas gas generator for China's first 16-megawatt gas turbine. Throughout the test, the unit operated stably with consistent combustion and normal vibration levels. The control system responded accurately, with key thermal and operational parameters remaining within controllable ranges, and all performance indicators meeting the design requirements.
The 16MW gas turbine features a three-rotor structural design, achieving an overall thermal efficiency exceeding 36%. Compared to the fuel prototype, the natural gas prototype demonstrates NOx emissions (at 15% O₂) below 25ppm, surpassing national standards and reaching internationally advanced levels in clean emission performance.
Gas turbines, as core energy equipment characterized by high technological intensity and complex system integration, represent a nation's industrial prowess and are often regarded as the "crown jewel" of the equipment manufacturing industry. The project was officially launched in 2022, with construction design completed in 2023. By 2024, all components achieved domestic manufacturing and entered the final assembly phase. The fuel gas generator performance test was successfully conducted in July 2025, followed by the successful ignition of the natural gas gas generator in December of the same year.
