On the afternoon of May 13, the "Script to Series International Camp," a joint initiative by Youku under Orca Entertainment Group and the Asia-Pacific division of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) along with the WBD Access talent training team, was launched in Beijing and has completed its first offline training session.
As the first international talent program in the Asia-Pacific region focused on the full-process industrial incubation of series, the "International Camp" marks a significant breakthrough by pioneering a fixed team model of "producer + screenwriter + director" in the region. It comprehensively aligns with Hollywood's industrial creative system by introducing the Showrunner mechanism. This approach addresses industry pain points in traditional series creation, such as role fragmentation, high information barriers, and insufficient practicality, from the source, thereby enhancing control over the entire process from concept to execution.
Liu Yanhong, Vice President of Youku at Orca Entertainment Group, stated that as a key component of Orca Entertainment Group's talent development system, the "International Camp" complements other talent cultivation programs like the "Spring Bud Screenwriter Plan," "Haina International Young Director Development Plan," and "Orca Beyond Class." Together, they form a comprehensive talent matrix covering screenwriters, directors, producers, and actors, continuously supplying the industry with innovative forces that combine pioneering expression with a global perspective, and driving Chinese series from "local excellence" to "global brilliance."
