Recently, Guangzhou Customs seized undeclared currency from a passenger attempting to enter China through Guangzhou Baiyun Airport's passenger inspection channel. Officials discovered 256,900 euros in undeclared cash, equivalent to over 2.12 million RMB.

Customs officers from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Customs, affiliated with Guangzhou Customs, detected suspicious baggage during routine monitoring of an inbound flight. The passenger had chosen the "nothing to declare" channel for clearance, but X-ray screening revealed abnormal images in their luggage. Upon further inspection, customs officers discovered bundles of euro banknotes concealed within the passenger's baggage.

Following a thorough count, authorities confiscated a total of 256,900 euros that had not been declared to customs, with a value exceeding 2.12 million RMB.

Customs authorities remind travelers that cash currency is classified as restricted items for cross-border transport. According to relevant laws and regulations, passengers entering China who carry more than 20,000 RMB in Chinese currency or foreign currency equivalent to more than 5,000 USD must truthfully declare these amounts to customs and select the "declaration channel" for clearance.
