China's Forex Market Sees 28.96 Trillion Yuan in July Transactions, State Administrator Reports

According to data released on August 28, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange has published the transaction overview for China's foreign exchange market in July 2026.

In July 2026, the total transaction volume of China's foreign exchange market (excluding foreign currency pair markets) reached 28.96 trillion yuan, equivalent to 4.26 trillion US dollars. This figure is broken down into 4.83 trillion yuan (0.71 trillion US dollars) in bank-to-client transactions and 24.13 trillion yuan (3.55 trillion US dollars) in interbank market transactions.

The spot market registered a cumulative transaction volume of 10.08 trillion yuan (1.48 trillion US dollars), while the derivatives market saw cumulative transactions of 18.89 trillion yuan (2.78 trillion US dollars).

From January to July 2026, the cumulative transaction volume of China's foreign exchange market totaled 181.18 trillion yuan, equivalent to 26.34 trillion US dollars.
