Smart City Development Holdings Limited released its Environmental, Social and Governance Report for the year ended 31 March 2026, covering Hong Kong operations in electrical and mechanical engineering, A&A, refurbishment and building construction.

\n\nKey environmental results show total greenhouse-gas emissions fell 45.53% to 67 tonnes CO₂e. Scope 1 emissions declined 58% to 3 tonnes CO₂e, Scope 2 emissions slid 46% to 55 tonnes CO₂e and Scope 3 (waste-related) emissions dropped 36% to 8 tonnes CO₂e. The improvements reflected the switch to electric vehicles, reduced office space and fewer construction sites following the disposal of Deson Development in September 2025.

\n\nEnergy use from purchased electricity fell 37.31% to 163 MWh, while fossil-fuel energy fell 58.62% to 12 MWh. Overall energy intensity decreased to 0.43 MWh per million Hong Kong dollars of revenue, down from 0.72. Total water consumption contracted 28.47% to 2,727 m³, with intensity reduced to 6.72 m³ per million Hong Kong dollars.

\n\nWaste management performance improved: non-hazardous waste generation fell 55.60% to 772 tonnes, cutting intensity to 1.90 tonnes per million Hong Kong dollars. Hazardous waste fell 53.85% to 30 kg.

\n\nLooking ahead, the company set 2027 targets to trim Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, Scope 3 waste emissions, total emissions intensity, waste, energy and water consumption by 3% each versus 2026 levels.

\n\nSocial indicators show the workforce contracted to 60 employees after the corporate disposal. The employee turnover rate fell to 7% from 16%, and no child or forced labour cases were reported. Three work-injury cases resulted in 251 lost days, but there were no work-related fatalities over the past three years.

\n\nGovernance measures include ISO 9001 quality management, ISO-based supplier selection, regular ESG oversight by the board, anti-corruption training for all new hires and no reported corruption cases during the year.
