As the Spring Festival approaches, discussions about potential courier service suspensions have emerged alongside the joy of preparing for the holiday. When deliveries might stop and how to send packages are key concerns for many.
On February 6, the topic "courier service suspensions" trended online. A widely circulated "suspension schedule" suggested that several major courier companies would gradually halt pick-up and delivery services in the days leading up to the holiday.
But how reliable are these online schedules?
Major delivery firms have clarified: no company has announced a full suspension during the holiday period, and the circulated information is inaccurate.
To help everyone enjoy a worry-free holiday, here’s a summary of delivery policies for major courier companies and e-commerce platforms during the 2026 Spring Festival. In short: most services will continue, though delivery times and fees may see slight adjustments.
Courier Companies: Most services remain operational, with minor adjustments at some local branches.
1. China Post Delivery services will continue from February 15 to 23, 2026. Customers can schedule pick-ups via the EMS WeChat account, mini-program, app, official website, or Alipash. Alternatively, they can visit local post offices or call 11183 for service. Delivery times may be extended due to the holiday, but efforts will be made to meet demand.
2. JD LOGISTICS JD LOGISTICS has committed to ensuring safe and efficient logistics during the holiday. Services will cover warehousing, delivery, appliance installation, and instant delivery. Key categories like alcohol gift sets, electronics, special New Year’s Eve meals, and fresh fruits will receive priority. All JD Asia No. 1 smart warehouses will operate 24/7, supported by hundreds of regional smart warehouses to maintain reliable delivery networks, including same-day and next-day services. From January 19 to February 23, a resource adjustment fee of 0.1–1.2 RMB/kg will apply to express heavy goods, with tiered pricing for monthly account customers.
3. ZTO Express ZTO Express will not suspend services during the holiday. From February 16 (Lunar New Year’s Eve) to February 21 (the fifth day of the lunar new year), centers and branches will arrange staff as needed to ensure smooth operations. Normal services will resume on February 22.
4. SF Express Delivery times may be affected by limited resources and weather conditions during the holiday. SF Express has prepared contingency plans to maintain operations. Flexible scheduling and dynamic fee adjustments will apply: from January 19 to February 15, a resource fee of 0.1–1.5 RMB/kg will be charged for shipments over 20kg; from February 16 to 23, an additional fee will apply. Long-term partners and members may receive discounts or waivers.
5. YTO Express From February 15 to 23, YTO will adjust staffing and resources based on demand to ensure service continuity. Domestic services will operate normally, except in some areas of Tibet, Gansu, Yunnan, Inner Mongolia, Jilin, Guangxi, Hunan, and Liaoning, where third-party logistics suspensions or weather may cause delays.
6. STO Express STO Express will maintain services during the holiday, though arrangements may vary by branch. Shipping fees may be adjusted as needed.
7. Yunda Express Yunda’s customer service confirmed that most areas will operate as usual, except parts of Tibet, Xinjiang, Sichuan, Yunnan, and Qinghai. Deliveries may be delayed by 2–3 days within provinces and 4–5 days cross-province. Some branches have not yet received specific notices, while others indicated continued service with possible surcharges.
8. Deppon Express To meet delivery demand during the "New Year Shopping Festival" and Spring Festival, Deppon will adjust fees dynamically. From January 19 to February 14, a fee of 0.2–0.5 RMB/kg will apply to some products and customers; from February 15 to 23, an additional resource fee will be introduced.
9. Best Express Services will be suspended from February 11 to 23. Logistics in various provinces will gradually halt, affecting delivery times before and after the holiday. Customers are advised to plan ahead and check with local branches for specific cut-off dates.
E-commerce Platforms: New Year sales are in full swing, with specific shipping rules in place.
1. Taobao/Tmall Tmall Supermarket will accept orders as usual during the holiday. In cities like Hangzhou, same-day delivery within four hours will remain available. Most regular sellers not participating in promotions will stop shipping around the 25th day of the twelfth lunar month and resume on the eighth day of the first lunar month. Customers are advised to confirm delivery times with sellers before ordering.
2. JD.com JD’s New Year shopping event, centered on uninterrupted logistics, will run from January 25 to February 23. The 32-day promotion includes official discounts and national subsidies.
3. Pinduoduo Pinduoduo has launched its "No Holiday Break" initiative for 2026, with YTO and J&T Express as logistics partners. China Post, as an exclusive partner, will also maintain services.
4. Douyin/Kuaishou Livestreams Live commerce will continue during the holiday, but buyers should note whether products are available for immediate shipping or will be delivered after the holiday. Fresh products are especially vulnerable to logistics delays, so early ordering is recommended.
Although couriers and platforms promise uninterrupted service, practical advice remains useful: - Shop early: As Lunar New Year’s Eve approaches, logistics may be affected by weather and travel surges. Sending gifts to hometowns before the 24th day of the twelfth lunar month is advisable. - Check seller locations: If the seller is in an area experiencing extreme weather, deliveries may be delayed. - Show understanding: Courier staff working during the holiday deserve patience and kindness. A delayed delivery or missed call calls for empathy—a "Happy New Year" can go a long way.
