In June, netizens shared Li Guoqing's wedding invitation, which indicated the ceremony would take place on August 16, 2025, in Beijing. The bride is Zhang Danhong, his Peking University alumna. The invitation notably stated: "We respectfully decline monetary gifts and presents. Instead, we encourage each guest to donate 500 yuan at the wedding venue to Tianzige Elementary School, a rural school in Guizhou founded by our alumni."
On June 18, staff from Tianzige Volunteer Service Organization confirmed the authenticity of the invitation, noting that Li Guoqing serves as a board member of the organization. When contacted, the hotel hosting the wedding confirmed that the August 16 wedding venue had been booked and that the hotel only has one event space.
Li Guoqing, born in October 1964 in Beijing, graduated from Peking University in 1987. In 1996, during a business trip to the United States, he met Yu Yu, who was working on Wall Street, and the couple married within six months. In 1999, Li Guoqing and Yu Yu returned to China to establish E-Commerce China Dangdang.
According to public information, Zhang Danhong is a German-Chinese national and a prominent German economic journalist. She graduated from Peking University's Department of Western Languages with a degree in German Language and Literature and authored the book "From Charlemagne to the Euro," which has a 7.4 rating on Douban. Zhang Danhong's social media shows that Li Guoqing is among her most recent follows.
In December 2023, Li Guoqing revealed during a television program that he had divorced and was now single. When asked who initiated the divorce, he emotionally responded that even who proposed marriage was disputed, claiming "she (Yu Yu) was the one who proposed," before confirming the divorce was finalized and expressing that he felt relieved and ready to start fresh with love and family.
