Recently, the website of the Liaocheng City Market Supervision Bureau in Shandong Province published the findings of the 2025 municipal-level quality supervision spot check for adhesive products.
In accordance with laws and regulations such as the "Product Quality Law of the People's Republic of China" and the "Interim Measures for the Administration of Product Quality Supervision and Spot Checks," as well as the local product quality supervision plan and implementation rules, the bureau organized and conducted the quality supervision spot checks for adhesive products within Liaocheng City. The results of these supervision spot checks are now officially announced.
This round of sampling and inspection was based on the national standard GB 18583, "Indoor Decorating and Refurbishing Materials - Limit of Harmful Substances in Adhesives." The key inspection items primarily included total volatile organic compounds (VOC), benzene, toluene + xylene, and free formaldehyde.
A total of 5 batches of adhesive products were sampled and inspected. Following laboratory testing, all batches were found to be compliant and passed the quality standards.
Adhesive products are commonly used in interior decoration and refurbishment, mainly for fixing and bonding wall decoration materials, floor installations, and custom furniture. Quality issues with adhesives primarily involve environmental pollution and hazards to human health, such as the presence of toluene + xylene, total volatile organic compounds, and free formaldehyde. When selecting products, consumers are advised to: 1. Check the labels on the product packaging, paying special attention to the manufacturer's name and address, product standard number, production date, expiration date, and the product usage instructions. It is preferable to choose products from manufacturers certified under ISO management systems, as the quality of products from these enterprises is generally more stable. 2. Carefully observe whether the product container shows any signs of damage or bulging. Before purchasing, gently shake the container to check for any solidification of the contents; products exhibiting these issues should not be purchased. 3. Since most retail stores cannot open containers on-site to inspect the internal quality of the product, consumers must be sure to obtain a valid purchase invoice and the construction manual. This documentation is essential for safeguarding one's legal rights should any problems arise later. 4. The application process is also a critical step; it is imperative to strictly follow the requirements outlined in the product's construction manual. Ensure the work area is well-ventilated during application, and if the product specifies particular environmental conditions for use, these must be adhered to precisely.
