美国最大肉类供应商泰森食品高管表示，由于牧场主尚未表现出重建牲畜供应的明显迹象，在可预见的未来，美国牛群规模可能持续萎缩。
这家总部位于阿肯色州的企业指出，美国牧场牛只短缺的状况预计将至少持续至2026-2027年。美国农业部最新数据显示，当前牛群存栏量已跌至1951年以来最低水平。供应紧缩正持续推高活牛成本，使泰森等肉类加工企业承压。
"我们掌握的数据表明牛群规模最终将缩小，"泰森食品首席运营官德文·科尔在分析师电话会议中强调，"牛只供应将保持极度紧张态势。"
财报显示，在截至12月27日的季度里，泰森的活牛采购成本较去年同期激增约8.5亿美元。去年11月，该公司宣布关闭位于内布拉斯加州列克星敦的牛肉加工厂——该厂曾是全美最大牛肉工厂之一，导致约3200名员工失业。同时其规模更大的德克萨斯州工厂也实施了减产措施。
"持续承受过去两年这样的亏损根本不可接受，"泰森首席执行官唐尼·金在解释关厂决定时表示。
