Sep 18

CNT Group reported a markedly smaller net loss of HK$20.67 million for the six months ended 30 June 2026, versus a HK$43.88 million deficit a year earlier. Loss attributable to shareholders narrowed to HK$15.66 million, translating into a basic and diluted loss per share of HK0.82 cents, down from HK1.92 cents.

Revenue rose 16.6 % to HK$138.75 million, driven chiefly by an 18.2 % surge in paint and coating sales to HK$114.52 million. Gross profit expanded 25.4 % to HK$62.92 million and gross margin improved to 45.3 % (2025: 42.2 %).

Segment performance: • Paint Products – Sales accounted for 82.5 % of group turnover; segment loss reduced to HK$13.40 million (2025: HK$21.58 million) as stronger demand from Mainland industrial manufacturers and a rebound in Hong Kong wholesale distribution offset raw-material cost pressure. • Property Investment – Rental income grew 12.4 % to HK$18.89 million. Segment loss narrowed to HK$2.69 million after net fair-value losses on investment properties eased to HK$18.35 million from HK$30.75 million. Portfolio occupancy averaged 86.1 %. • Hotel – Revenue held at HK$5.34 million with segment profit edging up to HK$0.29 million.

Operating cash flow was HK$15.10 million (2025 outflow: HK$19.90 million). Cash and cash equivalents were broadly unchanged at HK$315.20 million, while total bank borrowings fell to HK$128.88 million. Gearing slipped to 10.7 % (31 Dec 2025: 11.8 %) and the current ratio stood at 1.90 times. No interim dividend was declared.

Post-period, a mandatory conditional cash offer concluded on 2 July 2026, lifting Prime Surplus Limited’s stake (plus concert parties) to 50.31 % of CNT Group. A subsequent unconditional cash offer for subsidiary CPM Holdings closed on 15 July 2026; 75.04 % of CPM shares are now held by the offeror consortium, with public float maintained at 25 %.

Management expects challenging property and tourism markets to persist but remains optimistic on long-term prospects, citing integration with Mainland China and continuing demand for industrial coatings. Ongoing priorities include disciplined cost control, portfolio optimisation and selective expansion.
