Beijing Yizhuang Cultivates High-Yield Fields for New Quality Productive Forces

Beijing Yizhuang, the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, has transformed from farmland into a powerhouse for new quality productive forces. In 2025, its industrial output reached nearly 700 billion yuan, contributing nearly 40% of the city's industrial added value from just 1.37% of Beijing's land area. It has cultivated six industrial clusters each worth over 100 billion yuan, ranking at the top for output per mu among national-level economic development zones.

High-End Industries Cluster

Yizhuang is a hub for commercial aerospace, hosting over 220 related companies, including 75% of China's commercial rocket integrators. In July, the Long March 10B rocket, backed by Yizhuang-based China Rocket Co., Ltd., successfully achieved China's first controlled recovery of a launch vehicle, showcasing the strength of "Yizhuang Rockets." The area is also a leader in the token economy, with Beijing's first token factory established in June 2025, reaching a daily production capacity of 1.4 trillion tokens.

Beyond aerospace and token economy, Yizhuang's industrial landscape is diverse, covering 6G, quantum information, biomanufacturing, brain-computer interfaces, and embodied intelligence. After over 30 years of development, the area has evolved from a single electronics industry to four core sectors: next-generation IT, high-end automotive and new energy vehicles, biotechnology and healthcare, and robotics and intelligent manufacturing.

Super Brain Empowers Innovation

Yizhuang leverages Beijing's concentration of top universities and research institutions, including 46% of China's national academicians. This "super brain" fuels technological breakthroughs. Academicians like Zheng Weimin and Yin Ruiyu lead efforts in areas like high-performance graph computing and advanced steelmaking. The area is also at the forefront of quantum technology, with Tsinghua University's team, alongside local company Liangyi Wanxiang, achieving a world record by stably capturing 11,000 atoms with a single laser. Over 400 municipal-level and above R&D institutions support the translation of lab innovations into market-ready products, such as the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, which has developed the "Embodied Tiangong" platform and secured over 700 million yuan in initial funding.

Dextrous Hands for Precise Cultivation

The government's "visible hand" and the market's "invisible hand" work in tandem in Yizhuang. The government has implemented over 200 reforms to improve the business environment, including China's first "model coupon" subsidy platform, which covers up to 65% of model service costs for enterprises. Yizhuang State-owned Capital Investment, acting as an industry investor, has deployed funds to attract key projects like Xiaomi's car factory and to support over 20 biotech projects. A "Wild Geese Plan" supports companies at different growth stages, fostering a listing pipeline of 64 listed companies, 80 near-listed companies, and 600 reserve companies. In June, Haiguang Xinzheng Technology Co., Ltd., a Yizhuang-based AI silicon photonics firm, successfully listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, posting a 44.74% gain on its first day.

By prioritizing innovation and effectively combining technology and capital, Yizhuang has transformed from a "policy lowland" to an "institutional highland," offering a replicable model for other regions seeking to cultivate new quality productive forces.
