Nanning is promoting the application of AI technology across various sectors. In Hengzhou City, known as the "Hometown of Chinese Jasmine," an "AI+" full-chain intelligent model has been established to empower the development of the jasmine industry. On February 8, at the Seventh Session of the 15th Nanning Municipal People's Congress, Mayor Hou Gang emphasized in his government work report the commitment to AI leadership and accelerating the cultivation of new quality productive forces. Representatives and committee members shared diverse perspectives and suggestions, focusing on advancing the AI industry, fostering innovation in application scenarios, and nurturing talent. They aim to harness momentum in the new quality productive forces track, injecting robust energy into Nanning's high-quality development.
Deepening the AI sector to promote digital and intelligent transformation in manufacturing was highlighted in the government work report, which calls for the implementation of the "AI+" initiative and the acceleration of digital, intelligent, and low-altitude economies. Yang Peirong, a municipal committee member and chairman of Guangxi Heerwo Information Technology Co., Ltd., suggested introducing specialized support policies to encourage leading manufacturing enterprises to establish smart demonstration factories and workshops. By equipping manufacturing with an "AI brain," overall technological levels and market competitiveness can be significantly enhanced. Additionally, improving data-sharing mechanisms, building supply chain collaboration platforms, and developing specialized vertical AI applications will foster an innovative industrial landscape. Strengthening talent development and expanding 5G network coverage are also crucial for transitioning Nanning from "manufacturing" to "smart manufacturing."
Liao Jinping, another committee member and chairman of Guangxi Xuanma Food Co., Ltd., noted that Nanning has been actively integrating the digital economy with the real economy, showing vibrant potential. As a local brand in the "internet + food manufacturing" sector, the company has embraced digital transformation, using intelligent technology to enhance production efficiency. In its packaging workshop, robotic arms and automated sorting systems have significantly accelerated operations, ensuring online orders are processed and shipped within 72 hours. Liao emphasized plans to further integrate AI technology into production, packaging, and quality inspection processes to strengthen core capabilities.
Representatives and committee members stressed that cultivating new quality productive forces requires both technological leadership and practical application. They advocated for creating AI application demonstration zones tailored to Nanning's characteristics. Lin Yan, a committee member and deputy manager at Nanning Financial Investment Group, proposed upgrading AI applications in cultural and museum sectors. Suggestions include building smart museum platforms, introducing intelligent guide robots, and developing AI digital guides with Guangxi cultural features, offering multilingual services including ASEAN languages. Using AR/VR technology to recreate historical scenes and launching interactive projects like "reviving cultural relics" would create immersive cultural experiences. Personalized visitor recommendations and "AI + intangible cultural heritage" international exhibitions were also recommended.
Lei Shunxin, a municipal representative from Hengzhou Comprehensive Inspection and Testing Center, highlighted that Hengzhou has established a full-chain smart model covering planting, picking, trading, production, and sales for jasmine. AI technology is widely used for precise pest control and resource conservation, increasing farmers' incomes. Plans are underway to accelerate the construction of an AI quality supervision platform, making Hengzhou a replicable model for "AI + agriculture."
With the rapid advancement of AI, Nanning's digital and intelligent industry agglomeration is accelerating. Talent cultivation and creating a hub for scientific innovation and international talent cooperation with ASEAN were key concerns. Qin Yang, a municipal representative and associate professor at Nanning University, suggested focusing on four key areas: ASEAN cooperation, industrial empowerment, scenario implementation, and talent support. Deepening cross-border AI collaboration, integrating AI with the real economy, and extending AI applications to education, healthcare, and elderly care will translate new quality productive forces into tangible benefits for people's livelihoods.
Yu Chengkuan, a municipal representative and vice principal of Nanning No. 2 High School, emphasized that new quality productive forces demand new quality talent, with basic education as the foundation. Nanning No. 2 High School has introduced AI general courses, designed "AI + interdisciplinary" projects, and used "cloud classrooms" and "AI dual-teacher classrooms" to share resources with rural schools, ensuring technological benefits reach rural students. AI also aids in teaching diagnostics, reducing teachers' repetitive tasks. Yu proposed municipal-level AI integration innovation projects in basic education, mandatory digital literacy training for teachers, and pilot AI education scenarios to build a solid talent foundation for Nanning's digital economy.
