A project launch meeting for the "Union Innovation Hub" was recently held, hosted by the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College (hereinafter referred to as "the College") in cooperation with the Dongcheng District Committee and the Dongcheng District People's Government. During the event, the College and the Dongcheng District government signed a Cooperative Construction Agreement.

On site, the College, Dongcheng District, and Beijing State-owned Capital Operation and Management Co., Ltd. signed and announced the "Union Innovation Hub" Achievement Transformation Fund, targeting a scale of 4 billion yuan. Nine partners of the "Union Innovation Hub," including General Health, China Resources Pharmaceutical, Sinopharm Group, Zhongfazhan Group, United Imaging Healthcare, Haier Group, Shukun Technology, the CEIBS Medicine and Health Industry Alumni Association, and Dongcheng State-owned Assets Company, signed letters of intent. Additionally, letters of appointment were issued to the Chief Scientists of the "Union Innovation Hub," and plaques were awarded to over 20 initial projects and platform units joining the hub, such as the Institute of Materia Medica and Fuwai Hospital.

It is understood that the "Union Innovation Hub" will focus on key areas including innovative drugs, novel vaccines, high-end medical devices, and artificial intelligence in healthcare. It aims to build a full-chain, closed-loop ecosystem spanning "source innovation - clinical validation - achievement transformation - industrial implementation," forming a distinctive development pattern characterized by "R&D at the College, transformation in Dongcheng, radiating across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and driving growth nationwide." The project will be advanced in three phases. The initial phase area has already been renovated and put into use. By 2030, the plan is to cumulatively transform a number of major innovation projects, cultivate dozens of high-tech enterprises under the "Union" umbrella, and form a biomedical industry cluster. Dongcheng District will provide comprehensive support for the project, including space and policy resources. Both parties will collaborate to build transformation platforms and nurture professional talent, jointly creating a source of innovation for medicine and health.
