Newell Brands' stock surged 9.07% during intraday trading on Friday, following the release of its first-quarter fiscal 2026 financial results, which exceeded analyst expectations on key metrics.

The consumer goods maker reported Q1 sales of $1.55 billion, beating the consensus estimate of $1.51 billion. While sales declined 1.1% year-over-year, the performance was stronger than anticipated. The company also reported a normalized loss per share of $0.05, which was better than the expected loss of $0.09 per share. The net loss for the quarter narrowed to $33 million from $37 million a year earlier.

Management raised its full-year 2026 guidance, increasing the net sales outlook to flat to 2% growth from the previous range of down 1% to up 1%. The company also lifted its normalized earnings per share guidance to $0.56-$0.60 from $0.54-$0.60. CEO Chris Peterson attributed the better-than-expected results to stronger consumer demand, improving point-of-sale trends, and continued investment in innovation and advertising.
