Meituan has recognized 310 delivery riders for their acts of bravery and goodwill during its Spring Festival celebrations, distributing special incentives totaling over 1 million yuan. Riders including Meng Shixiang, Liu Yang, and Zhao Sanhao were honored at festive events across China and received surprise gifts such as new electric vehicles.

Meng Shixiang, a rider from Henan province who works in Beijing, was celebrated for rescuing a cyclist from harassment in June 2025. His actions earned recognition from both Meituan and local authorities, along with the title "Beijing Role Model." Meng expressed that the platform's acknowledgment motivates him to continue spreading kindness.

Ahead of the Lunar New Year, Meituan organized more than 5,000 rider gatherings and over 500 reunion dinners in nearly 200 cities, including Chongqing, Qingdao, Wuhan, and Shenzhen. Starting February 10, each of the 310 recognized riders can claim a appreciation package worth approximately 5,000 yuan through the Meituan Rider App. The package includes options for electric vehicle vouchers, cash rewards, and family care benefits.

A Meituan representative stated that riders are increasingly becoming ambassadors of urban culture and contributors to social governance. The platform has established long-term reward programs for commendable deeds and acts of courage, and will continue to provide professional training in areas such as fire safety and first aid. These efforts aim to strengthen the welfare system and empower riders to create greater social value.

In Chongqing, rider Zhou Yunchuan, a Party member, was recognized for promoting a local hospital as a "rider-friendly" facility and organizing community improvement initiatives. Similar stories of bravery include riders in Zhengzhou lifting a collapsed fence to rescue a trapped woman, a Dongguan rider saving a drowning person, and a Chengdu rider preventing a 160,000-yuan scam.

Since 2021, Meituan has allocated special funds to reward riders for good deeds. By the end of 2025, the platform had honored over 1,000 riders with incentives exceeding 10 million yuan in total value. Additional benefits such as rental subsidies, vocational training, and family healthcare are prioritized for these individuals.

In Hangzhou, rider Li Hongshuang was praised for performing CPR on an unconscious individual in November 2025, helping save a life. Meituan encourages riders to report public safety concerns and collaborates with communities and businesses to improve working conditions. By December 2025, the company had established more than 45,000 rider-friendly communities across 279 cities and partnered with 39 property management firms and 13 government departments to enhance delivery efficiency.

To ensure riders are equipped to handle emergencies, Meituan has conducted safety training sessions covering fire drills, emergency rescue, and AED usage, reaching 5 million participants in 2025. Riders in Chengdu, Beijing, Ningbo, and Nanning have applied these skills to extinguish fires and address gas leaks effectively.

In Wuhan, rider Si Zhaotian, recognized for his eight years of service, used first-aid knowledge to revive an accident victim in August 2025. Known for his long-term community service, Si arranged for his reward—a new electric vehicle—to be given to a fellow rider with disabilities. In response, Meituan decided to provide an additional vehicle so both could benefit.

The company has also upgraded its "Rider Critical Illness Support Plan," extending hospitalization coverage to riders and their families beginning February 10. This initiative has already assisted 7,570 riders and relatives, with total support exceeding 210 million yuan. Additional benefits, including social security subsidies and improved living facilities in cities like Shenzhen and Tongren, further contribute to riders’ well-being.

Meituan emphasized that while the contributions of these everyday heroes are significant, the platform remains committed to enhancing foundational, advanced, and lifestyle benefits to reduce riders’ concerns and strengthen their sense of security and belonging.
