Magnitude 4.4 Earthquake Strikes Toksun County in Turpan, Xinjiang; Advance Rescue Team Dispatched to Epicenter

A magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck Toksun County in Turpan City, Xinjiang, at 2:15 a.m. on October 7.

The village of Kirgiz Tiemi lies within 5 kilometers of the quake's surroundings, while the epicenter is 74 kilometers from Toksun County and 178 kilometers from Urumqi City.

After verification with local public security and emergency management departments, there have been no casualties or building collapses so far, and no related emergency calls have been received.

The earthquake rescue advance team from the Toksun Brigade of the Turpan Fire and Rescue Detachment, consisting of 2 vehicles and 8 personnel, has been dispatched to the epicenter. Meanwhile, one earthquake rescue mobile unit from the Turpan Detachment, comprising 9 vehicles and 30 personnel, has assembled at its station and is ready for rescue operations.
