In the early hours of the morning, a perpetrator entered a gold store by climbing through a window and stole more than 1,800 grams of gold. Police conducted a cross-province investigation and ultimately apprehended the suspect along with the stolen goods. Around 5 a.m. recently, the Lihai Police Station under the Yuecheng District Branch of the Shaoxing Municipal Public Security Bureau received a report from a gold store employee stating that a large quantity of gold had been stolen from the shop, with preliminary estimated losses exceeding 2 million yuan. After understanding the situation, the on-duty officers promptly arrived at the scene to investigate. After securing relevant evidence at the location, the police quickly reviewed surveillance footage from all roads surrounding the store, analyzing it frame by frame. Eventually, they identified a vehicle that had driven overnight to Jiangxi Province as a prime suspect. "This vehicle fled overnight; it must be involved!" Following this crucial lead, the police swiftly organized the case details and soon discovered the vehicle parked near the gold store in earlier surveillance footage. The footage also captured the suspect, Zhu, climbing over a wall to enter the store. "He had so much gold; disposing of it wouldn’t be quick. Let’s arrest him directly!" After completing the relevant chain of evidence, the Lihai Police Station quickly mobilized officers to travel to Jiangxi based on the suspect’s vehicle trajectory to carry out the arrest. "We are the police. Take out everything you have!" With the cooperation of local police, suspect Zhu was swiftly apprehended. "It’s him; the bags are full of gold!" At the arrest scene, officers conducted a thorough search of the involved vehicle, personal belongings, and tools used in the crime. They also counted and quality-checked the recovered gold, confirming that over 1,800 grams of gold had been stolen, with an initial estimated value exceeding 2 million yuan. "I had no money, and gold is valuable now, so I thought about stealing it to sell for cash," the suspect admitted. Faced with conclusive evidence, suspect Zhu confessed to climbing into the gold store to commit theft. He has now been criminally detained by the public security authorities according to the law, and the case is under further investigation. Police remind the public: No matter how busy business gets, safety must not be forgotten. Business operators should particularly strengthen security measures during morning and evening inventory checks, as well as during store opening and closing times, while also installing surveillance systems. In the event of illegal activities causing property loss, promptly report to the police and preserve evidence to minimize damages.
