During the Spring Festival holiday, Yunnan's commercial sector, centered around the theme "Celebrating the New Year in Yunnan: Happy Shopping," organized over 1,000 promotional events in collaboration with cultural tourism, sports, financial departments, and market entities. These efforts, driven by policy support, innovative scenarios, and integrated efficiency, ignited a strong wave of holiday consumption, resulting in a vibrant market characterized by both volume and quality improvements.

According to third-party data monitoring, Yunnan Province recorded an 8.2% year-on-year increase in sales of goods and services during the holiday period. Specifically, sales of goods rose by 5.7%, while service sales grew by 9.5%.

Consumer potential continued to be unleashed during the holiday. Policies such as trade-in programs, consumer vouchers, and lottery invoices worked in tandem, leveraging subsidies from banks, platform support, and merchant discounts to inject strong momentum into the market. Yunnan increased the allocation of trade-in subsidies and launched the "Trade-In for a Happy New Year" campaign, which significantly boosted green consumption upgrades. As of February 23, applications for trade-in subsidies for automobiles, home appliances, and digital products increased by 53.7% year-on-year, directly driving consumer spending up by 84.4%. Among these, applications for digital smart products saw a 68.7% rise, with corresponding spending up 68.6%.

Focusing on key consumption areas such as retail, accommodation, catering, automobiles, and e-commerce, Yunnan distributed over 700,000 consumer vouchers, including those for automobiles, dining, accommodation, and e-commerce, stimulating over one billion yuan in consumption. Additionally, a lottery invoice initiative was launched across all 16 prefectures, with a pilot in Kunming. More than 60,000 users participated, submitting 290,000 invoices for a total prize pool of 7.4 million yuan, effectively boosting consumer enthusiasm.

Innovative consumption scenarios emerged throughout the holiday. Cultural performances, creative IP activities, and folk experiences fueled integrated consumption growth. Third-party data indicated a 6.6% year-on-year increase in sales of residential services. Commercial districts and streets collaborated with catering and retail businesses to create engaging environments. For example, Kunming’s Shuncheng Shopping Center, Nanping Pedestrian Street, and Park 1903 offered limited-edition products and multiple promotions. Yuxi’s Qinghua Street combined a New Year goods festival with a rice noodle cultural event, while Pu'er hosted activities highlighting local tea culture and ethnic traditions. Key commercial districts saw average daily foot traffic increase by 31.5% compared to ordinary days.

Immersive experiences and diverse settings enhanced the festive atmosphere. Kunming’s Rongchuang Cultural Tourism City, Nanqiang Street, and Taipei Street Night Market offered dining discounts and themed performances. Xishuangbanna introduced the immersive night tour "Mountain and Sea Illusion," and Pu'er’s Wuyi Farmers’ Market Night Market attracted large crowds. Qujing’s Waitan organized cultural activities such as非遗 fire pot and wind-fire流星 performances, driving nighttime consumption up by 22.7% year-on-year, according to third-party platform data.

The catering sector also thrived during the holiday. The Provincial Department of Commerce hosted the Indian Ocean Seafood Festival and issued special vouchers to create unique seafood dining experiences. A "Yunnan Cuisine Food Map" was released, featuring Indian Ocean seafood New Year’s Eve dinner sets and a list of restaurants offering "Foreign Guest Favorites." Platforms like大众点评 and美团 promoted local food guides from all 16 prefectures, allowing residents and tourists to savor authentic Yunnan flavors. Commerce bureau directors acted as food ambassadors, guiding visitors to local delicacies. Events such as Kunming’s "Taste of Spring City: Yunnan Cuisine Competition," Yuxi’s rice noodle vouchers, Dali’s "Food Carnival," and Baoshan’s food fair drew large crowds to time-honored restaurants and specialty food streets. Catering service sales increased by 7.5% year-on-year.

During the holiday, Yunnan also launched the "2026 Online New Year Shopping Festival," setting up a "Yunnan Specialty Zone" on e-commerce platforms and distributing e-commerce vouchers. A "Happy New Year Shopping: Yunnan Gifts" event highlighted flowers and blueberries, with daily shipments reaching 1.2 million flower items and 350,000 blueberry packages.
