Malaysia Smelting Corporation announces CEO retirement and board redesignation

Malaysia Smelting Corporation Berhad (MSC) said on Dec, 31 2025 that Dato Dr Ir Yong Mian Thong, 72, has retired as Group Chief Executive Officer and will be redesignated as Executive Director, effective Jan, 1 2026.

The company added that Yong, who has served as CEO since Oct, 7 2016 and became Group CEO on Jan, 1 2019, will continue to advise the group in his new capacity. He holds 1.05 million ordinary shares, representing about 0.125 per cent of MSC’s issued capital, and has no family ties or conflicts of interest with the listed issuer.

A professional engineer by training, Yong began his career with Malaysia’s National Electricity Board in 1976 and has held senior roles in several engineering and manufacturing firms, including Tai Kwang Yokohama Industries and Yokohama Industries.
