Goldman Sachs Raises Honeywell Target Price to $262 as Spin-Offs Enter Value Realization Phase

Goldman Sachs has increased the price target for Honeywell International (HON.US) from $236 to $262 while maintaining a "Buy" rating. This adjustment reflects an updated valuation model following Honeywell's business restructuring and asset divestitures. On the same day, reports indicated that Honeywell has agreed to move forward with its acquisition of Johnson Matthey's catalyst technology division, though the purchase price has been revised downward from the initially announced £1.8 billion in May to £1.325 billion. The transaction deadline has also been extended to July 21, with an option to further extend it to August if necessary. Following the deal's completion, Johnson Matthey plans to return approximately £1 billion to shareholders through a special dividend and share repurchases. The company stated that its cash flow-focused strategy is progressing steadily, with financial performance expected to align with its 2025–2026 outlook. Over the past year, Johnson Matthey's stock has risen nearly 60%, a surge that began when the deal was first announced, indicating strong investor support for the planned changes. Honeywell International is a globally diversified industrial company whose business portfolio is supported by the Honeywell Accelerator operating system and the Honeywell Forge platform. In 2024, Honeywell initiated the spin-off of its advanced materials business, which was successfully listed as Solstice Advanced Materials in 2025. Subsequently, the company announced plans to further separate its aerospace and automation businesses, aiming for full operational independence by the second half of 2026. Overall, Goldman Sachs emphasizes that Honeywell's transition from a traditional diversified industrial conglomerate to a pure-play industrial technology leader warrants a valuation premium. As the spin-off process enters its final stages, Honeywell is attracting more growth- and margin-focused technology investors with its highly focused business structure, positioning it favorably in the capital markets by 2026.
