U.S. FAA Clears Boeing MD-11 Aircraft for Return to Service in the U.S. Following Fatal Crash

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration stated on Monday that it has approved Boeing's plan for the safe resumption of MD-11 aircraft operations in the United States. This follows the agency's suspension of flights for this aircraft model in December, which was prompted by a fatal FedEx cargo plane crash in Kentucky in November that resulted in 15 fatalities.
FedEx decided to retire its MD-11 fleet after the fatal crash. However, the company has indicated plans to resume operations of this fleet later this month, once its 28 MD-11 aircraft meet Boeing's maintenance requirements.
