Direxion Daily Semiconductors Bull 3x Shares (SOXL) surged 15.83% intraday, staging a powerful recovery as a confluence of factors ignited a broad semiconductor rally.

The leveraged ETF, which seeks three times the daily performance of an index tracking the thirty largest U.S. listed semiconductor companies, rebounded sharply from the prior session's steep losses. The previous selloff was triggered by Japan's formal implementation of advanced packaging equipment export controls targeting China, which had sent Asian chip stocks tumbling. The resulting extreme oversold condition created strong technical demand for a bounce. Adding fuel to the recovery, personal investors poured a record $12 billion into semiconductor-related ETFs during the last week of July, with triple-leveraged funds like SOXL particularly favored.

Sentiment also got a boost from renewed optimism over artificial intelligence spending. Major North American cloud providers have reportedly raised their capital expenditure guidance for 2026, reinforcing the AI investment theme. Further underscoring robust chip demand, Anthropic signed a $10 billion compute deal with Nvidia-backed Volta, locking in substantial data center resources. Analysts noted that the recent decline was driven by concentrated position unwinding rather than any deterioration in fundamentals, with AI infrastructure demand logic remaining intact, supporting continued dip-buying activity across the semiconductor space.
