Warren Buffett stated on Tuesday that he has not spoken with Microsoft founder Bill Gates since the full disclosure of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. "I haven't spoken to him at all since the whole thing came out," Buffett told Becky Quick during a program. He added, "I didn't want to put myself in a position where I knew something... in case I was called to testify." When asked if he and Gates remain friends, Buffett warmly reflected on their private relationship—they had previously co-founded The Giving Pledge with Gates' former wife, Melinda Gates, an initiative encouraging the world's wealthiest individuals to commit the majority of their fortunes to philanthropy. However, Buffett added regarding the scandal linking Epstein and Gates, "I don't think there's any point in having a lot of communication until things are cleared up." "I don't want to testify under oath," Buffett said, marking his first public comments about Gates since the Epstein files were released. Buffett also spoke in detail about the notorious sex offender Epstein. In recent months, the gradual release of Epstein-related documents has exposed details of his associations with figures like Gates, causing significant reputational damage. "I'm amazed that a person could be so successful at being a con man," Buffett remarked. "Men have appetites... and some of them also want to avoid taxes. He pinpointed those weaknesses perfectly." "That guy was absolutely the number one con man of all time," Buffett stated. "He had a way of manipulating everyone." He mentioned that Gates might have invited him to meet Epstein in New York but fortunately did not follow through. "I have to thank him for not dragging me into that," Buffett said. "But what has happened cannot be avoided."
