**New Milestones in Yanjiang District**

**Agricultural Innovation: The Rise of "Yanyuan" Citrus** On November 13, the Ziyang Yanjiang Citrus Distribution and Trading Center officially commenced operations, coinciding with the "Yanyuan" tasting event. This hybrid citrus variety, combining the best traits of "Ai Yuan" and "Papa" oranges, is transforming Yanjiang’s citrus industry. Known as the "Hometown of Early-Ripening Citrus," Yanjiang had faced declining competitiveness due to outdated varieties. However, "Yanyuan" has reversed this trend, with wholesale prices reaching ¥10 per jin and per-mu yields increasing by 200%.

The district now boasts 14,000 mu of "Yanyuan" orchards, with an expected 2025 output of 2 million jin. Farmers like Luo Ze of Fengyu Town report earnings three times higher than traditional varieties. Advanced techniques—such as precision pruning, soil sensors, and integrated water-fertilizer systems—have reduced chemical use by 30% in pilot orchards. Over 1,300 farmers have undergone training to adopt these standards, enhancing fruit quality and traceability.

**Industrial Growth: Energy and Food Processing** Yanjiang’s shale gas sector achieved a breakthrough with the "Ziyang 2" well, now producing 1.4 million cubic meters daily. The district’s total gas output has surged to 4.67 million cubic meters per day, supporting 281,000 households. Plans include a ¥5 billion shale gas industrial park, targeting annual production of 5 billion cubic meters by 2030 to fuel the Chengdu-Chongqing economic zone.

In food processing, Denmark’s Ovodan Foods launched a ¥200 million egg-processing plant, handling 150,000 eggs daily. The facility has spurred local employment and attracted downstream partners like Anjoy Food. Yanjiang’s food and beverage sector, now contributing 62% of industrial output (¥2.3 billion in 2024), is expanding with 19 projects worth ¥2.9 billion underway.

**Tourism Revival: Rail-Driven Transformation** The Ziyang Rail Transit Line, averaging 30,700 daily riders since its September 2024 launch, has revitalized Yanjiang’s tourism. Visitors like Grandma Yan from Chengdu frequent local markets, boosting businesses such as Zhang Deshuai’s noodle shop. The district is capitalizing on this influx by developing waterfront attractions, including a Yangtze River water sports base and hot spring resorts. Three themed travel routes—combining gastronomy, outdoor activities, and cultural experiences—aim to position Yanjiang as Chengdu’s weekend getaway.

From citrus groves to gas fields and smart factories, Yanjiang is emerging as a model of integrated development, blending agriculture, industry, and tourism for a sustainable future.
