Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman met at OpenAI's headquarters in San Francisco to discuss potential collaboration in the artificial intelligence and semiconductor sectors.
OpenAI announced on the 26th that the meeting took place on the morning of the 25th local time at its San Francisco office. OpenAI did not disclose the specific topics or agenda of the discussions, but industry observers suggest the two parties likely focused on deepening cooperation around AI infrastructure, including high-bandwidth memory (HBM), dynamic random access memory (DRAM), and advanced foundry services.
The two sides may have also explored digital transformation plans involving the integration of generative AI across Samsung's entire business line. Samsung Electronics, one of OpenAI's top global enterprise clients, has already decided to grant all employees access to ChatGPT and the AI coding tool Codex.
