Shares of NovaGold Resources Inc. (NG) surged 5.11% in pre-market trading on Wednesday, following the company's announcement of a successful $260 million fundraising initiative and an increased stake in the Donlin Gold project. The significant capital raise and strategic investment have bolstered investor confidence in the gold exploration and development company.
NovaGold revealed that it has completed a financing initiative, comprising a public offering and a concurrent private placement. The company raised approximately $195.2 million through the sale of 55,027,500 common shares at $3.75 per share in the public offering. An additional $64.4 million was generated through a private placement, bringing the total net proceeds to around $260 million. This substantial influx of capital has primarily been used to increase NovaGold's ownership in Donlin Gold LLC to 60 percent, with a $200 million payment made as part of the transaction.
The company also reported its third-quarter results for the fiscal year 2025, ending August 31. While general and administrative expenses increased compared to the same quarter last year, NovaGold finished the quarter with a robust treasury of approximately $125 million in cash and term deposits. This strong financial position, coupled with the increased stake in the promising Donlin Gold project, appears to be driving the positive sentiment among investors. NovaGold is scheduled to host its Q3 earnings conference call at 11:00 AM, where management is expected to provide further details on the company's strategic moves and future outlook.
