Yanji Airport achieved 1,599 flight movements and handled 230,300 passengers in July, according to the Yanji Airport Branch.
Passenger traffic to South Korea ranked first in Northeast China, while international passengers accounted for 44.8% of total traffic, the highest proportion nationwide.
The airport began summer schedule planning three months early, coordinating with 11 domestic and international airlines including China Eastern and Jeju Air, securing 700 additional summer flights, a 104.1% year-on-year increase.
Domestic routes were expanded to key cities like Beijing and Shanghai, while international routes added or increased services to Seoul (Incheon), Busan, Cheongju, Daegu, Yangyang, and Jeju in South Korea.
In July, 668 flights operated to South Korea, with a weekly average of 162 flights. Daily peaks reached 26 flights and 4,115 passengers, both record highs.
To address intense summer competition and challenges in expanding cross-border markets, Yanji Airport closely partnered with city and state tourism authorities, integrating route networks into the broader "Invite Visitors to Yanji" strategy, aligning with folk and border tourism trends.
The airport visited airline alliance members and key travel agencies to assess group travel demand, established regular communication mechanisms, and dynamically adjusted flight schedules with airlines.
Customized aviation-tourism products were developed to leverage multiple channels for passenger growth, transforming market pressures into growth drivers.
In operations, Yanji Airport addressed high passenger volumes and aging infrastructure by reinforcing capacity. Cross-departmental support from fire and security teams was deployed for critical checks, with capacity adjusted to traffic levels.
Coordinated mechanisms between transport and security departments ensured full check-in counters and security lanes during peak hours. Safety management covered the entire apron and baggage handling chain, with heat rotation and heatstroke prevention measures in place, ensuring stable summer operations.
