MasterCard reported a 14% year-over-year increase in revenue, reaching $9.28 billion, driven by the growth of its payment network business.
The company's second-quarter net income rose to $4.39 billion, or $4.97 per share, compared to $3.7 billion, or $4.07 per share, in the same period last year.
Adjusted earnings per share, excluding certain one-time items, came in at $5.04, surpassing the analyst consensus estimate of $4.77 compiled by FactSet.
Total revenue for the quarter was $9.28 billion, exceeding the FactSet analyst forecast of $9.08 billion.
MasterCard attributed the overall revenue increase to the combined strength of its payment network and value-added services segments. The payment network segment alone saw a 10% revenue boost, driven by higher transaction volumes and cross-border payment activity.
The stock ticker MA rose 1.50% in response to the earnings report.
