China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL) has published its 2025 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, detailing board-level oversight, quantified performance targets and year-on-year improvements across climate, safety, innovation and community indicators.
Key environmental metrics • Total greenhouse-gas emissions fell to 1.30 million tonnes of CO₂-equivalent, with a recorded reduction of 30,604 tonnes against the annual target of 30,100 tonnes. • Energy-saving initiatives cut consumption by 14,701 tonnes of standard coal, beating the 14,100-tonne goal, while overall energy use rose to 599,152 tonnes of standard coal as activity expanded. • Shore-power retrofits on seven offshore platforms and deployment of 12 LNG-powered vessels underpinned the lower carbon intensity. • Water consumption reached 1.60 million tonnes, below the internal ceiling of 1.63 million tonnes.
Waste and pollution control • Hazardous waste declined to 15,187 tonnes (-15.3% YoY) and non-hazardous waste to 70,716 tonnes (-1.7% YoY); all wastewater met a 100% compliance discharge rate. • The “Haiheng” non-water-based drilling-cuttings treatment technology processed nearly 120,000 tonnes of waste, reducing onshore disposal volumes by more than 60,000 tonnes.
Occupational health and safety • No fatal incidents were recorded for employees or contractors; OSHA recordable incident rate improved to 0.016. • The company executed 29,330 safety drills involving 660,412 participants and achieved 99.9% rectification of identified hazards.
