On September 17, the County People's Procuratorate held an open day event themed around safeguarding the intellectual property rights of national geographical indications, including Pingle Persimmon Cake, Pingle Salted Vegetables, and Pingle Shiya Tea, to support high-quality development of the county economy. Zhou Qiuyun, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Acting Chief Procurator of the County People's Procuratorate, attended the event.

The event brought together officials from the County Market Supervision Administration and the County Federation of Industry and Commerce, along with county-level People's Congress representatives, members of the Political Consultative Conference, and key business leaders from local specialty industries such as persimmons and salted vegetables. This created a constructive platform for communication between procuratorial authorities and enterprises, interdepartmental coordination, and public oversight, strengthening collective efforts in geographical indication protection.

During the event, all participants conducted an on-site visit to Guilin Yangfa Food Co., Ltd., touring its production workshops, R&D center, and product display areas. This allowed them to gain direct insight into the production processes and technological innovations of local specialty agricultural products, as well as detailed knowledge of the company's standardized use of national geographical indication marks, brand operations, and current production status.

A symposium followed, during which Zhou Qiuyun, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Acting Chief Procurator, elaborated on the significant importance of protecting intellectual property rights for national geographical indications. She set clear requirements for the procuratorial authorities to perform their duties lawfully and support the high-quality development of Pingle's specialty industries. Key priorities include fully understanding the importance of protecting these rights, maximising the role of procuratorial functions in safeguarding geographical indication products and county economic growth, and pooling efforts from all parties to jointly preserve the Pingle geographical indication brand through effective procuratorial work.

At the symposium, the Deputy Director of the County Market Supervision Administration provided an overview of the origins and current usage of the national geographical indications for Pingle Persimmon Cake, Pingle Salted Vegetables, and Pingle Shiya Tea. Procurators from the County People's Procuratorate also delivered an educational lecture on intellectual property law, offering specialised training on legal knowledge related to geographical indications.

Zhou Qiuyun, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Acting Chief Procurator of Pingle County People's Procuratorate, noted that Pingle Persimmon Cake, Pingle Salted Vegetables, and Pingle Shiya Tea are all nationally recognised geographical indication certification trademarks, representing the "golden nameplates" of Pingle's specialty industries. The procuratorial authorities will deepen comprehensive performance of duties across criminal, civil, administrative, and public interest litigation to serve enterprise development. Moving forward, the Procuratorate will establish a regular communication mechanism with businesses, registering, tracking, and promptly responding to legal needs raised by enterprises to support high-quality county economic development through effective procuratorial work.

Li Yijian, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Market Supervision Administration, expressed hope that the procuratorial and market supervision authorities will strengthen collaboration, improve mechanisms for the application and protection of geographical indications, and unite protection efforts so that Pingle's geographical indications become true "golden nameplates" driving high-quality county economic development.

Yang Maogan, Sales Manager of Guangxi Yuba Food Co., Ltd. and member of the Political Consultative Conference, said that the procuratorial authorities bringing legal services directly to enterprises and the production frontline is practical and down-to-earth. He hopes the Procuratorate will continue to strengthen intellectual property protection for geographical indications and conduct more such outreach campaigns to help businesses understand, use, and protect the law, making Pingle's specialty industry brands increasingly prominent and boosting the incomes of local residents.

Mo Zhifeng, General Manager of Guilin Yangfa Food Co., Ltd., remarked that holding the open day at the enterprise with dedicated explanations on national geographical indication knowledge was highly insightful. Pingle Shiya Tea, as a national geographical indication product, serves as an important foundation for the company's operations. Previously, there was limited understanding of usage standards and rights protection pathways for geographical indications. Today's lecture provided clear guidance on standardised mark usage and lawful rights protection, which is immensely helpful for preventing legal risks. Going forward, the company will operate in accordance with the law and with integrity, standardise the use of geographical indication marks, maintain high product quality, and work with peers to protect and develop the Pingle geographical indication brand, contributing to high-quality county economic development.
