Class Action Targets Roblox Over Age Verification Impact, Lead Plaintiff Deadline Set for August 7

Online gaming platform Roblox Corporation (NYSE: RBLX) is facing a securities fraud class action lawsuit, with the deadline for investors to apply as lead plaintiff set for August 7, 2026.

The lawsuit stems from the severe impact of the company's age verification measures on user growth. On October 30, 2025, Roblox announced it would implement mandatory age verification globally starting in January 2026, prompting investor concerns over the policy's effects. On April 30, 2026, the company released its first-quarter earnings report and sharply lowered its full-year booking guidance to between $7.33 billion and $7.6 billion—a nearly $1 billion reduction from the prior quarter's guidance of $8.28 billion to $8.55 billion. The expected annual growth rate for bookings was now just 8% to 12%. The company acknowledged that the new age verification measures had slowed new user acquisition, weakened the platform's social features, and generated significantly greater operational pressure than anticipated.

The day after the earnings release, shares plunged roughly 18% to $45.13. Since the third quarter of 2025, daily active users have declined from a peak of 152 million to 132 million.

The lawsuit accuses Roblox, along with CEO David Baszucki, CFO Naveen Chopra, and other executives, of making misleading statements during the class period from October 30, 2025, to April 30, 2026, regarding the impact of age verification on growth. It alleges they overstated the company's organic growth potential and downplayed the risks of a user slowdown. The case has been filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

Investors who purchased Roblox common stock during the class period and suffered losses may apply to the court to serve as lead plaintiff by August 7. The lead plaintiff is typically the investor with the largest financial stake and will represent the class in guiding the litigation.
