Former President Donald Trump stated that he expects an agreement with Iran to be announced soon, claiming it would allow the United States to obtain "free oil" and secure control over the Strait of Hormuz. When asked about the economy and oil prices, Trump remarked that current oil prices have remained lower than he anticipated.

Trump said, "Look at oil, look at the price we're paying now—if I had taken the actions I previously needed to take, oil prices would be roughly double what they are today. Our current negotiations are progressing very well. I believe once an agreement is reached, it will be announced quickly, granting us free oil and free control over the Strait of Hormuz. Everything will go smoothly, and I think oil prices will fall even lower than before."
