Shares of HAOHAI BIOTEC (ASX: HHBT) climbed nearly 3% in late trading. At the time of reporting, the stock was up 2.87%, trading at HK$17.87 with a turnover of HK$4.11 million.
The move follows an announcement from the company stating that its majority-owned subsidiary, Saimaishi, has received regulatory approval from the National Medical Products Administration for its self-developed trifocal intraocular lens, branded as "Xiang Wujie."
This lens is indicated for adult patients with cataracts and aphakia to correct vision, with the aim of improving near, intermediate, and distance vision and reducing dependence on glasses. The intraocular lens is designed for implantation into the capsular bag.
This product represents another multifocal intraocular lens approved for the company this year. Its approval not only accelerates and completes the company's strategic positioning in the high-end multifocal intraocular lens market but also injects fresh momentum into the development of its ophthalmology business.
This achievement successfully validates the feasibility of the company's model of medical-engineering collaboration in achieving breakthroughs in original technology. It marks the company's enhanced capability for original design and systematic development centered around clinical needs, supporting the company's sustained, high-quality growth in the ophthalmology field.
