UBS has released a research report stating that POWER ASSETS (00006) first-half results broadly met expectations, with an interim dividend maintained at HKD 0.78 per share and no special dividend declared. According to the bank's estimates, after excluding gains from the sale of UK Power Networks and UK Rails, along with other one-off items, recurring profit excluding discontinued operations increased by 16% year-on-year on a comparable basis.
UBS expects the market reaction to the results to be neutral to slightly positive. The bank has lowered its recurring profit forecasts for 2026 to 2028 by 11% to 12%, primarily reflecting the impact of the sales of UK Power Networks and UK Rails, partially offset by higher interest income from the sale proceeds. The target price has been raised from HKD 70 to HKD 73, with a "Buy" rating maintained.
Earlier market rumors suggested that CK Infrastructure Holdings (01038) and POWER ASSETS plan to sell their Australian sustainable distributed energy producer, EDL Energy. Management of POWER ASSETS confirmed ongoing long-term market interest in the asset and stated they would consider selling at a suitable price, though there is no pressure to rush a sale.
