Driven by a powerful rally in semiconductor stocks, the gains for South Korea's benchmark KOSPI index have widened to 8%, with the index currently quoted at 8384.95 points.
Shares of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. have surged by 11.5%, while SK Hynix Inc. has climbed 9%. Hanmi Semiconductor Co., Ltd. has also seen a gain of 4.8%.
