公司方面表示，目前飞鱼科技已发行股份（不含库藏股）总数为1,749,442,062股，若该项授权在股东周年大会上获批，则董事可在适当时机回购数量不超过约174,944,206股公司股份。董事会指出，购回所需资金将来源于符合开曼群岛适用法律法规及香港上市规则规定范围内的合法资金。公司认为，此举有助于提升资产净值及每股收益，进一步优化股本结构，提高股东回报。
