The Market Supervision Administration of Jingyuan County, Baiyin City, Gansu Province, has recently organized a special investigative operation focused on intellectual property infringement disputes. This initiative aims to crack down on illegal activities related to patents, trademarks, and geographical indications, safeguard the legitimate rights of innovators and brand owners, and continuously improve the local market environment. The campaign targets key sectors and critical links to comprehensively identify and mitigate potential risks in these areas.

During this special inspection, enforcement officers tailored their approach to the county's industrial landscape, designating lamb meat and shantung maple processing enterprises, along with new material and high-tech companies, as priority inspection targets. The scope of the investigation spans production facilities, agricultural trade markets, e-commerce platforms, and physical retail stores. Authorities are focusing on violations such as patent counterfeiting, improper patent marking, unauthorized use of patented technologies, trademark infringement, non-compliant trademark usage, and the unauthorized application of geographical indication labels. The objective is to achieve thorough and exhaustive coverage across all critical fields and regions, leaving no room for oversight.

Employing a combined online and offline approach, the campaign leverages on-site inspections, document reviews, and direct interviews to meticulously verify patent products, authorization documents, trademark registrations, licensing agreements, and the proper use of geographical indication marks. Simultaneously, the administration has utilized its WeChat official account to establish reporting channels for patent, trademark, and geographical indication violations, publicly disclosing hotline numbers and email addresses. This effort seeks to expand the sources of leads, encourage public participation in reporting infringement issues, and foster a collaborative framework for IP protection. In parallel, enforcement personnel are conducting educational sessions on intellectual property laws, including the Patent Law, Trademark Law, and provincial regulations on IP promotion and protection, to explain the harms and legal consequences of infringements and guide businesses in fulfilling their responsibilities for compliant operations.

To date, the campaign has inspected over 50 business entities, including more than 20 specialty agricultural product processing and sales companies, 2 new material enterprises, 2 agricultural trade markets, and 4 e-commerce platforms and physical stores. It has achieved full coverage of local high-tech and specialized innovative enterprises. Additionally, over 200 informational brochures have been distributed, 3 potential patent infringement leads have been identified, and 5 cases of improper trademark usage have been flagged for immediate corrective action.
