HighTide Therapeutics, Inc. released unaudited results for the six months ended 30 June 2026, detailing a wider interim loss driven by fair-value losses on financial assets and a sharp drop in other income, despite materially lower research spending.

Financial Performance • Net loss expanded 46.9% year-on-year to RMB167.27 million, versus a RMB113.86 million loss in 1H25. • Adjusted net loss, excluding share-based payments, rose to RMB155.54 million (1H25: RMB100.74 million). • Other gains and losses swung to a RMB86.99 million net loss, mainly due to an RMB86.23 million mark-to-market loss on the Apollo Multi-Asset Growth Fund. • Other income fell 68.6% to RMB3.30 million, reflecting lower government grants and interest income. • Research & development expenses declined 65.4% to RMB36.83 million, largely on reduced third-party contracting fees. • Administrative expenses doubled to RMB43.50 million, driven by higher professional service costs. • Finance costs rose 106.3% to RMB3.26 million on increased bank borrowings.

Balance Sheet and Liquidity • Cash and bank balances stood at RMB270.28 million, down 17.1% from year-end 2025, after funding R&D and overheads. • Current ratio narrowed to 3.3x (FY25: 5.4x); gearing ratio climbed to 82.9% (FY25: 30.2%) following higher borrowings, which totalled RMB145.40 million. • Financial assets at FVTPL contracted to RMB56.14 million from RMB176.81 million due to market-driven valuation losses.

Capital Management • Unutilised IPO proceeds totalled HKD9.10 million, earmarked mainly for early-stage R&D. • Of the HKD123.40 million raised via a July 2025 share placement, HKD48.20 million remains, allocated to HTD1801 development and commercialisation. • Post-period, the company raised an additional HKD222.40 million in August 2026 through a new share placement to support HTD1801 commercial rollout, further indication expansion, pipeline R&D, and general working capital.

R&D and Pipeline Highlights • Lead asset HTD1801: NDA for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus accepted by China’s NMPA in March 2026 after three completed Phase III trials. A Phase IIb MASH trial in the US has also concluded. • Clinical data presented at NEJM Evidence and multiple global congresses showed HTD1801 achieved up to 1.3 percentage-point HbA1c reductions and durable multi-system benefits, including lipid, renal and inflammatory improvements, with predominantly mild gastrointestinal adverse events. • Pre-clinical work demonstrated synergistic weight-loss effects when HTD1801 was combined with GLP-1 receptor agonists and renal-protective potential in diabetic nephropathy models. • The company’s broader pipeline counts five additional proprietary candidates—HTD4010, HTF1037, HTF1057, HTD1804 and HTD1805—targeting eight indications across cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic and related disorders.

Operations and Outlook • Headcount stood at 55 employees as of 30 June 2026, down slightly from 57 a year earlier; personnel costs fell to RMB27.06 million. • No dividends were declared for the interim period. • Management continues to pursue regional commercial partnerships for HTD1801 in China ahead of potential market launch, while advancing global clinical programmes.

Compliance and Governance • The company reported adherence to the Hong Kong Corporate Governance Code, with the exception of combined Chair/CEO roles held by Dr Liu Liping. • No material litigation, contingent liabilities, or asset charges were reported during the period.

HighTide maintains that its IP portfolio of over 100 patents, combined with a strengthened cash position post-period, underpins ongoing clinical and commercial execution, although management acknowledges continued exposure to market volatility impacting investment valuations.
