On the evening of October 17, 2025, the Beijing Apple Carnival and the 22nd Changping Apple Culture Festival kicked off at the Super Hyperlink Mall in Changping District. This event will create synergies with cultural tourism areas such as Cuicun Apple Town and Liucun Hundred-Mile Corridor, hosting activities like apple cycling, apple concerts, and community gardening events, while also launching four apple sightseeing and picking routes. The festival will run until mid-November.
At the opening ceremony, apple trees were laden with fruit, creating a festive atmosphere in the Changping orchards. Various areas were set up for apple displays, specialty markets, and family gardening, showcasing 42 different varieties of Changping apples, which attracted many citizens to stop, taste, and purchase. Currently, the entire 10,000-acre orchard in Changping is at its peak picking season, with the main variety, Red Fuji, expected to hit the market in large quantities by mid to late October. Other specialty varieties such as Ruixiang Hong, Hongse Zhi Ai, and Venus Gold are also gradually being launched, with the picking period lasting until mid-November.
To facilitate citizens’ picking trips, the Changping District Landscaping and Greening Bureau has released a "Changping Fruit Picking Guide Map," featuring four special routes that integrate apple culture with the regional unique cultures of red leaves, the Great Wall, Ming Dynasty, and hot springs, allowing citizens to deeply experience the charm of beautiful Changping.
Changping District is a significant apple production area in Beijing, recognized as a National Apple Standardization Demonstration Zone in 2001. "Changping Apples" were awarded the status of China Geographic Indication Protected Product in 2006. The apples were listed in the National Catalog of Quality Agricultural Products in 2015 and 2017 and have been recognized as "Most Loved Regional Public Brands" and "Good Agricultural Brands of Beijing." The total apple planting area in the district is 20,000 acres, primarily located in the warm belt north of the Jingmi Diversion Canal, with an annual output of around 10 million kilograms and stable value of 100 million yuan.
