ASMPT (0522) has announced that Executive Director and Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Robin Gerard Ng Cher Tat, will not stand for re-election at the forthcoming annual general meeting (AGM) on 7 May 2026. His role as Executive Director will conclude at the end of the AGM. Mr. Ng also plans to retire from his CEO position to devote more time to his family and other personal pursuits, remaining in the role temporarily to ensure a smooth leadership transition while the Company searches for his successor.
Mr. Ng, who was appointed Group CEO on 12 May 2020 after serving as Group Chief Financial Officer for over a decade, emphasized that the timing is appropriate for leadership renewal. The Board expressed gratitude for his contributions, noting that the Company’s SEMI and SMT businesses are positioned for continued growth under the strong leadership team.
Additionally, Executive Director Mr. Guenter Walter Lauber will also step down upon the conclusion of his term at the same AGM, citing his retirement age as the reason. Both departing executives confirmed that there are no disagreements with the Board and no matters that need to be brought to the attention of securities holders.
The Board commended the dedication and service of Mr. Ng and Mr. Lauber, crediting their guidance for helping ASMPT navigate challenging market conditions. The Company remains committed to maintaining operational excellence and close collaboration with customers and business partners during this transition.
