Sichuan Tianfu New Area Rolls Out Unified Low-Altitude Airspace Management With Live Field Demonstrations Across Real-World Scenarios

On September 22, Sichuan Tianfu New Area conducted a centralized live-run test of its low-altitude "one-network unified flight" application scenario, staging several low-altitude operations within a campus setting, including coordinated drone dispatch, aerial patrols, low-altitude package delivery, and formation flying. The event was designed to assess the practical feasibility of integrated low-altitude control and multi-mission execution.

This low-altitude integrated operation system employs a digital twin scheduling platform that enables visualized flight-status management. After on-site takeoff commands were issued, drone nests activated in sequence, and the aircraft lifted off autonomously to handle patrol and parcel delivery tasks. Flight paths, live video feeds, device battery levels, and route alerts were simultaneously relayed back to the command center, achieving centralized low-altitude flight coordination and replacing the previous fragmented, one-off drone operation model.

The system is built on a "1+3+N" architecture, integrating three key platforms for comprehensive low-altitude flight supervision, application enablement, and service operation control. This structure balances flight oversight, scenario expansion, and operational efficiency to support a wide range of low-altitude mission types.

At the demonstration site, several types of low-altitude equipment were showcased in sequence. An unmanned, passenger-carrying electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft completed a lift-off display, while a 400-drone daytime formation and a 1,000-drone nighttime light show were choreographed and controlled by student programmers. Additional live drills covered fire-rescue reconnaissance with drones, hoisting operations, agricultural and forestry plant-protection spraying, and smart-robot action demos. On the same day, the Urban Air Mobility 6S Operation Center was officially inaugurated.

Low-altitude economy is being promoted as a key emerging industry, and Sichuan is actively broadening its low-altitude application scenarios, upgrading the supporting industrial ecosystem, and addressing talent shortages. This live-field exercise established an integrated low-altitude dispatch and operation setting, providing a physical platform for regional low-altitude application pilots and hands-on skills training for specialized personnel.
