Gold Futures End Slightly Lower, Marking Second Straight Session of Decline

July gold futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange settled at $4,034.70 per ounce on Wednesday, edging down $1.60, or 0.04%.

This marks the second consecutive session of losses for the precious metal. Over the past two trading days, gold has fallen by a cumulative $39.80, or 0.98%, representing the largest two-day dollar and percentage decline since July 24, 2026. The settlement price is the lowest recorded since July 20, 2026.

The current price is 24.14% below the 52-week high of $5,318.40, set on January 29, 2026, and 22.52% above the 52-week low of $3,293.20, reached on July 31, 2025. Compared to the same period one year ago, the futures settlement price is up 22.42%.

From the 2026 settlement high of $5,318.40 (January 29), the price has declined by 24.14%. It has risen 1.23% from the 2026 settlement low of $3,985.60 (July 16). The price is also 24.14% below the all-time high settlement price of $5,318.40 (January 29).

Month-to-date, the contract has gained 0.29%. For the year-to-date period, it has dropped $290.90, or 6.73%. All price data is based on the current front-month contract settlement.
